About Roger

Hello. I'm Roger.
Here I am with my parents. They've been my parents all my life. Not surprisingly, I've been their son all my life. There have been brief times that they didn't want to claim me, but being their favorite son, those times passed quickly.
I would like to have been able to post a picture with the three of us and another, but that isn't possible. They are missed terribly.
Most people don't like to or take the time to get their pictures taken. Us Waldrips are no different. That's why you see a whole gambit of dress in this family picture (we thought there was one missing, and there is, but that's what they want). In my family's defense, I didn't push for getting the pictures taken prior until about 5 minutes before we took them. I usually get some push back about taking them and no one is enthusiastic about the picture taking process nor will they generally even tell me if they are interested in getting a family picture when I ask.
The funny thing is, we always have a good time getting family pictures. Whether it be more formal portraits or holiday pictures, such as at Christmas. This is the last family picture we have taken and used. We did try once again about a month later, but my niece was not able to be with us that day, so we just went with this one.
Us Waldrip boys had some great parents. To the left is an example of my mom being great. The year is 1976 and she purchased some patriotic material from a store and hand made all 4 of us boys matching outfits. I purposely didn't call them duds because they certainly weren't duds. They were on fire!
We tease her about these clothes now (and then and all the time in-between) but I loved them. I'd certainly wear them now if they were available to me and still fit.
You can read more about us on the 'About My Family' page.
Feel free to have a look around. If you're not very familiar with computing, just click on stuff. If nothing happens, oh well. If something does happen, then cool; it's a good thing you clicked there. Oh, though I am trying to make the site phone friendly, it is geared visually toward actually viewing on a computer or tablet and this is especially true when looking through the galleries.
One thing you may find odd is that there really isn't that many pictures of me. As I'm not that good looking so you should be thankful for that. But the real reason is that the photographer just can't get into the pictures very easily. To do so, usually requires the photographer to setup the shots. Thus more equipment needs to be carried around such as tripods and remote triggers. You can do a little bit using the timers in the cameras but your pretty much limited to one picture, run and set it again, and repeat. So, there aren't that many of me. And I am disappointed that there are not that many of LeeAnne and I. So if you see a family out somewhere, offer to take their picture. And you married people, gt the other parent in there with the kids from time to time.
I had hoped to have the gallery done by now. But, I’ve been off doing other things that sorta tickles my fancy and finishing the gallery hasn’t been a priority. The other stuff is more challenging and helps me to feel like I’m accomplishing something. Getting the pictures finished is mind numbing.
The search feature is mostly working. I have it so that it only returns results from posts and not from the pages. This is primarily because stuff is hidden on my pages in the accordions and tabs. The WP search doesn’t work with them. And my pages aren’t that cryptic that you need to search for an item in a page. They’re pretty straight forward.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a blessed day.
Here's some stuff about Roger.
**Note** These tabs are going away.
Even though I don’t get to see or do much with LeeAnne for a few months now, I still haven’t really figured out how to spend my indoor time.
We used to enjoy crafting and doing puzzles together. She was much better at the 3D puzzles than I was. Partially because she would a couple of the main pieces in her hand so I couldn’t rotate them to see if they fit other parts.
But I spend indoor time learning computer skills and manipulating images and movies on the computer. I also enjoy making websites for people (more backend stuff as I don’t have the eye for color coordination) and getting them to do unusual things that people hadn’t thought of doing.
I also enjoy fixing things; more so when I’m not under the gun of time or desperate need to get them fixed. I’m pretty good at getting stuff to work that people though wouldn’t work again.
Lately, I have been getting interested in 3D movies again and getting my laser engraver up going as well as the 3D printer and CNC Router that I built.
My picture taking was waned as LeeAnne isn’t here for me to get pictures of and, quite frankly, I just ain’t enjoying it as much as I was as there isn’t a purpose for pictures that I can see anymore. I haven’t been taking them at church, not getting any of the birds around here. Just not using my camera.
Though I’m not a big reader, I have been doing a lot of technical/scientific/Christian reading. Things that involve creation and what science is doing now that supposedly “discredits” God. They’ve haven’t disproven God as they keep saying; they’re showing that they are understanding how God does things. Big difference. Just because we see really small things doesn’t mean God didn’t make and upholds those small things. In fact, if one looks at how complex all those things are, you have to come to the conclusion that they couldn’t just happen on their own.
And, if you go over to the Wilds page, you’ll see what I’ve been doing concerning the website and how it can benefit Mom and Dad.
It’s been a mild winter, however, I haven’t been taking advantage of it outdoors.
Normally, I like to be outside doing things and working with my hands. Burning brush, taking care of bird feeders. Even getting out and hunting or flying my RC planes. But none of that has happened except just the filling of the feeders on occasion.
Last fall, we worked on the Waldrip Family Campground and want to do a little more to ready it for Turkey camp this Spring.
Scott and Levi have been after me to get the planes out and head out to the Mondell Church to fly in their yard but we haven’t done that.
Quite honestly, about all that I’ve done is do some work with Scott and Levi at the shop and hang with Mom and Dad. This is good for Mom as she isn’t in good health anymore. Dad’s not bad but is starting to run down.
I go over and we do virtual vacations. Mom hasd been able to go on a vacation for several years so watching some hicking/camping and nature videos off of YouTube helps her feel better. Unfortunately, my photography and movie skills aren’t up to snuff to compete with the better videos on YouTube though I have taken a lot of footage.
But normally I enjoy a ot of outdoor stuff, no matter the time of the year.
Hiking, site-seeing, fishing, camping, bike riding, truck washing, gardening (in fact, I hope to set my green house in the next week or two and start some plants), boating, archery, pellet guns (I still have guns but with my headaches, I don’t shoot them much or hang around when they are being shoot). Just lots of stuff.
I’ve been known to sit in the shade or under my gazebo and read. I know, silly.
Not showing my age but perhaps my maturity level, I am one of the biggest Veggietale Fans around. I drove my daughter crazy. Although the movies and direct to DVD's are designed for children, their is quite a bit of adult (good adult) material to keep every grown up entertained. In fact, I've heard adults laughing, myself included, more than the children at puns, one-liners and antidotes that Bob, Larry and the rest get into. I have the 2 movies, all the DVD's and a couple of the toys that I use as conservation pieces (dust collectors). My favorite is "Lil' Joe" (Joseph) with "King George and the Ducky" (David and Bathsheba) running a close second.
I love my daughter. I don't know what she thinks about me. I know what her actions show me and Grandma Mickey and Grandpa Vernon though. Despite the hurt, I'll always love her.
(Various photos of us together were here but have been removed. Sorry for those that wanted to see them).
I enjoy helping people and will usually do for someone else before I do for myself. My friends are primarily my family (close and extended) and any friends I have I consider family. In fact, my e-mail only has a directory for friends; not one for family, as I can't really make a distinction between the two.
I’m still an avid Christian, though I would like to get away from that title to separate me from Christians. I would rather be a Christ Follower but there’s no definition or group for that. I may need to come up with one so that I can distance myself from the bunch of hypocrite, lying, lazy, manipulative and deceitful ones.
But that’s for another time and one that I need to make sure of, very carefully, of my sentences, grammar and statements.
But I’m always there for those that need help. Even when I need help and don’t get it.
I am also getting into high gear on my Eastview Connect web site. It primarily deals with Creation and Evolution topics but also other doctrinal issues as well. You can check it out at www.eastviewconnect.org.
Hey, I got the Google Maps thing to work.
