Movies – James Bond

Dad hadn’t seen any of the newest Bond movies, those starring Daniel Craig, and possibly a couple before that. Recently while browsing for 3D movies at one of the somewhat local used movie stores, I came across some 007 bluray movies for a little more than $3. I decided to start collecting the Bond series and catch good ol’ dad up on them during the bad weather this winter.

Daniel Craig as Bond has the most action and longest stunts, but I don;t think they are good Bond movies. They are good spy movies for the most part, but virtually no gadgets, which is a hallmark of the Bond series if you ask me.

Timothy Dalton was the worst Bond in my opinion but had some of the best gadgets and car upgrades.

Overall, I think Pierce Brosnan made the best Bond. Unfortunately, with the cold war over, plots for him and Timothy were lacking.

George Lazenby played a unique version of Bond and I kinda liked it. He was much more upbeat and smiley than the others and was caught in a skirt (OK, it was a kilt). The plot for his movie wasn’t bad but he just didn’t quite pull off 007.

I liked Roger Moore as Bond, thinking he had the best plots, best gadgets and prettiest women. I also think his “Bond, James Bond” was the best. Roger played Bond in my favorite Bond Movie, “A View to a Kill”.

Most people think of Bond and Sean Connery consecutively and interchangeably. Besides essentially being the first Bond, most think he was the sexiest Bond. I’ll not lend my opinion as to who I believe to the be the sexiest Bond.

An internet search revealed 2 other lesser known Bonds, a Barry Nelson and a David Niven. It appears that they each played in a Bond in 2 different movies of the same name, “Casino Royale”. If this is indeed true, then there have been three different Bond movies titled “Casino Royale” played by three different Bonds. I can only assume that those movies bombed as virtually no one, including me, knows of them.

As I mentioned earlier, I browse used movie stores, Half-Priced Books, Disc Replay and Game World for movies. As I fill out my Bond library, I’ll switch out the black and white pictures, representing the movies I don’t have, with color pictures. I have not found any Bond movies filmed in 3D though I watched one converted from 2D to 3D and it wasn’t half bad. Let me know if you need a little Bond fix.
