Software

Although one shouldn't do this, I am listing some of the applications and plug-ins that I use on this site. I'm doing this as it is a way to give credit to those that spend their time, either for pay or for free, to make software that I(we) use everyday.
The reason that one shouldn't list their software's, applications and plug-ins is because it makes it easier for potential bad guys to get in and goof your stuff up. since I am not really running anything hat anyone cares about (end users), I am going to buck that recommendation; for now at least.
Besides listing the software's/applications/plug-ins, I will, unless it really could/would be security issue, the settings or potential settings that I use. This will make it easy for others to replicate if they so desire and for me to use as reference material.
Might I suggest that if you yourself use FOSS, Shareware, Public Domain or other software, that you through the coders a bone and donate a buck or two (or more) to them for their work.
AVideo, formerly YouPHPtube, is a web app that allows one to host their own 'YouTube' style presence. There website is available here. A free version for personal use and hosting is available and a purchase version for commercial use.

Just started this page.
The accordion contains the software and utilities that I use for my Pinball machines.
Several Pinball emulators are available for desktop computers; some are F.O.S.S. Many free tables are also available though there are some that commercial. And to top it all off, you can create your own tables on some of the emulators.
Future Pinball itself, the executable, hasn't been updated since 2010. However, there is an active community that continues to extend it. Game table continue to be made for it as well.
You can download Future Pinball here.
PinballX is a 'front end' launcher to various pinball front ends.

I use the Linux/BSD version of Ubuntu and LinuxMint for my server and desktop/laptop operating systems.
I chose LinuxMint, with the Cinnamon Desktop Environment for my desktop and laptop computer operating systems. The Cinnamon desktop has a very polished look to it. LinuxMint is built on top of Ubuntu.
I use either a straight Ubuntu server install or the Ubuntu Desktop Mate edition for my servers. Core server applications are the Apache web server, MySQL database, and the PHP environment.
There are many Blogging, CMS and web presentations out there but WordPress is reportedly by far the most popular, taking almost 30% of the user space on the internet.
I am not always a trend follower, but since I am not gifted visually or with the language arts, i went with something that would be pretty easy to use. Plus, my original intent was to find/deploy something easy to use in the event that the congregation I served with would want something other than just a 'box' solution.

There is a drop in widget with limited functions. To take full advantage of it, you must use CSS and short codes.
Here is an example of shortcode usage.
[countdown date="5 June 2021" format="dHMS" hour="18" minutes="54"]
Shortcode paramaters.
title="Widget Title"
: Adds widget title before countdown widgetevent="Event Title"
: Event title that we are counting downdate="12 June"
: This is a shorthand function for month, day and year. It depends on PHP strtotime function so it doesn’t work with every human readible format. Basic date format should be like12 June 2020
.direction="down"
: You can count down or up using this option.timezone="+2"
: Timezone of the countdown. This is required if you are creating a global countdown!month="10"
: Month of the countdown dateday="12"
: Day of the countdown dateyear="2020"
: Year of the countdown datehour="12"
: Hour part of the countdown timeminutes="00"
: Minutes part of the countdown timeseconds="00"
: Seconds part of the countdown timeformat="yowdHMS"
: A key to hide/show certain digits on countdown. Check explanation here.color="#900"
: Text color of the countdownbgcolor="#000"
: Background color of the widgetwidth="200"
: Width of the widget in pixelsheight="200"
: Height of the widget in pixelsradius="8"
: Border radius of the widget in pixelslink="false"
: Hides support link from the widget
To handle dates;
[countdown date="6 August 2021"]
[countup date="29 October 1923"]
To modify fonts.
.countdown_amount{ font-family: 'Orbitron', serif; }
.countdown_descr{ font-family: 'Tangerine', serif; }
To display a red rounded border.
.hasCountdown{ border:2px solid red; border-radius: 10px; }
And with some padding.
.hasCountdown{ border:2px solid red; border-radius: 10px; padding:10px; }
To give it a background color.
body.hasCountdown{ border:2px solid red; border-radius: 10px; background:#fde; }
To adjust font sizes.
.countdown_amount{ font-size: 40px }
To adjust label sizes.
.countdown_section{ font-size: 16px }
And here it is all together.
body.hasCountdown{ border:2px solid red; border-radius: 10px; background:#fde; padding:10px; }
body.countdown_amount{ font-family: 'Orbitron', serif; }
body.countdown_descr{ font-family: 'Tangerine', serif; }
Use this to add an image to the widget.
body.hasCountdown{ background:url('http://path.to/image.file') 50% 50% no-repeat; }
